The Omaha Lancers: Hockey
The Omaha Lancers are a semi-professional junior hockey ice hockey team that has been in existence since 1986. The team is a member of the United States Hockey League (USHL), and has participated in regular home-and-away games over several decades. With a rich history of developing young talent, the Lancers have been a crucial stepping stone for players looking to advance in the world of professional hockey.
In 2022, David Wilkie was announced to return as the team’s coach and manager, bringing in a new phase for local ice hockey competition.
Omaha Beef: Football

University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks: College Athletics
The Omaha Mavericks proudly represent the University of Nebraska Omaha in NCAA Division I athletics. While they are members of the Summit League for most sports, an exception exists for ice hockey, which holds a strong presence in the city’s sports scene.
In a significant move in 2011, the Mavericks’ hockey team became a founding member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). This marked their departure from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) at the conclusion of the 2012–13 season, with NCHC competition commencing in the subsequent season, charting an exciting new course for the team.
