Made between two, ideally thick, slices of rye bread, the Reuben Sandwich is the One Thing everyone has to try in Omaha at least once. For the most traditional Reuben Sandwich, the ingredients are corned beef, cheese, and sauerkraut – though other variations on the original recipe exist today.
Origin stories for the great Reuben Sandwich credit it to either a great, notable poker game by Reuben Kulakofsky, or to a local restaurant owner. Both stories may have given rise to similarities, which eventually just became one absolutely fantastic sandwich.
